Sad story - we had to leave our boat unattended in boat yard near La Rochelle for 3 winters. The cockpit drains blocked, the rest is history. Insurers judged the boat (Sadler 29) to be beyond economic repair. Sad since the hull, sails and rigging are probably sound, and she's essentially a good boat for anyone who can undertake the re-fit themselves. The boat is now the property of the insurers - or will be soon, and I thought it worth saying that they might be open to suggestions, not to say a very low offer. There are also vrious items available at the boatyard - many free to take away. I am putting up a blog with more information. If sailing in that area, would be worth checking out the yard to see what might be salvagable. I have a Sea Feather that would be perfect for the Jester Challenge, for example. PM me for more details.
