Does anyone out there have experience of boat clubs, where you pay a monthly fee and get points to use towards any of the boats in the club's fleet. Found one at SIBS called Pure Latitude, who have a range of boats, mostly rag & stick, but also a RIB and a Bavaria 29. Seems like a sensible way to enjoy our favourite pasttime. Pay £300/mth and enjoy the Bavaria for up to 20 days a year. No hassle, no worries and only fuel to pay for. I'd love to hear from some of you out there who know of more such clubs or have experienced this one.

Found another at SIBS last year called Sailtime, they have a Beneteau on their books, again plenty of sailey things & a couple of mobo's.
Talking to them it sounded more of a syndicate type of ownership where the syndicate don't actually own the boat.
All sounded ok but have been sceptical of the allocation of usage, it could work if your flexible as to when you want to be onboard but not if you just fancy that sunny weekend predicted at the end of the week when everone else wants it!!!

Thanks for the info. Very interesting but really expensive compared with Pure Latitude. You do get much more sailing time though and they have more intersting boats, but for that money, I'd rather have my own boat. It didn't cost half the money, when I had one, that these guys want for theirs.
Any more interesting shared ownership or fractional ownership clubs out there?

I’ve just signed up to a company called the performance yacht company (www.tpyc.co.uk) in Poole. Strange name, but they had a Sunseeker Portofino 47, which is great for the family. I had signed up to an ownership scheme, but after waiting a while it didn’t get off the ground. Also wife constantly moaned about going out on our last boat because we spend the first 30 minutes removing the presents from the seagulls! These guys say that they do all that…thanks God!

Isn't this the same company/boat which keeps on appearing on Ebay? Hardly seems an upmarket way of selling the dream. In fact it's bloody annoying cos at first glance you think they're offering a boat at a bargain price - the front page doesn't mention that what they are offering is 40 odd days of use.

However, if it works good luck to them and you. Will be interesting to hear of your actual experiences and whether it lives up to expectations.
