Is there a "St Georges" boat club on the Thames.?
Noticed the name,alongside Windsor YC on a noticeboard over in the harbour masters office in Dunkerque.

No, not a rowing club. Some of the members are ex-PHYC.

There's one or two clubs that are very secretive and never ever heard of. The Thames Power Squadron being the most difficult to pin down. Membership is strictly by invitation and I can only remember one invitation in the last decade.

I know but they don't send out many invites, in any form.

There are Clubs, and there are Cliques.

Clearly, both are quite normal, even Cliques within Clubs, so there's no new news here...

The established clubs want to survive generally, so are always happy take on decent members (rather than the 'Sponge like' type) who will keep the club going, while the Clique clubs don't give a hoot, because when they're done, its all over anyway.

IMHO of course...
