Hi, swimbo and I have a 20 year wedding anniversary next year and we are thinking of celebrating by going to Croatia and chartering a motorboat for a week or 10 days. Some thing like this.... Motor boat Guletti Custom - Croatia for hire | Zizoo

Does anybody have any experience of doing this in Croatia, and can they please share any nuggets of information that may be of benefit? Maybe, best place to go, or best charter company to use etc etc... many thanks in advance.

A 9 meter boat with crew
That will be cosy. I must have misread something

A professional captain and crew will be onboard and will assist you during your trip.

I do like the idea though (without crew) having cruised that area when it was Yugoslavia.

At checkout you can add the crew. If you don't need one then you don't have to have one.

It's a superb cruising area as has been well documented on here. I've been several times and will definitely return.

Bareboat mobo charter much less common than sail but they are around. You'll need an in-date ICC Power and a VHF Cert.

We used these guys (Angelina) this year (for sail) - they do have some power options. Was a good experience. If you start at Trogir it's incredibly easy to get to from Split airport, about 10 minutes in a taxi.

Can we mix and match qualifications? For example my wife will have PBL2 and I have the vhf license. Or does one person have to have it all?

Well, the person named as 'skipper' needs both in my experience as they only check in one person. Crew certs never been asked for. And PB2 might be OK for a RIB but not a motor yacht so you may need to get the ICC, check before you book.
It is my understanding that if you have the PB2 you can get ICC automatically?

Yes, for RIBs and other smaller motor boats up to 10m. Sail Day Skipper also works for that use. Apply via the RYA, it's free if you're a member. So if the boat you want to charter is under 10m then you should be OK.
Ok that's good. The one we are looking at is 9.4m. We don't need more than that as it's just two adults and a 12 year old.

@jfm - Please share pics of your adventure! Can't wait to RIB charter in Dubrovnik in October.

@ST840 - I'm in Ireland so may be different to the RYA. I have PB level 2 & 3 along with a skippers ticket. To obtain the ICC was just a mater of form filling and paying the fee, but it wasn't 'automatic', you still had to apply for it. It's a separate credit-card sized document you receive.
