i have decided that my colvic northener is too much to handle for lone trips so have sold it.
now planning to buy a much smaller power boat that i can handle without assistance if necessary and have been looking at fletcher boats which seem to fit the bill.
have looked at one that has a 3ltr inboard mercruiser engine and also at others having 60/100 hp outboards.
which is best inboard or outboard?
The inboard looks to be very straightforward in its design and much less complicated than an outboard or am i kidding myself?

If I were going for that kind of boat, then I would pick the outboard engine. But I’d want the engine to be the maximum rated HP for the hull. Inboard petrols carry a lot more cost in terms of maintenance. An outboard can also be fully lifted from the water when not in use whereas an out drive leg cannot.
So, if petrol it must be then for me it’s an outboard all day !

Do you want to use the fletcher in the same sea as the colvic, if so where.
