Boat Buying - traditions

If someone bought a boat and they were pleased with her and somewhere along the process they'd asked you what you thought and you'd said somehing very positive...do you think you should expect an invitation to wet its head sometime?

I think if you did get an invite, it would be polite to sit down in the head to avoid it getting wet.

All depend how far away this person's new boat was. In reality a good Scotsman would be prepared to travel to the end of the earth...

...for a dram of course...

Would I be correct in thinking that the boat of which we write may well be at a location some 16 miles south of Oban this coming weekend - when perchance I may view her and so imbibe - or have you slipped the mooring and gone deep south already?

My current expertise with internal central heating devices is really with Webasto but a wee dram will do the trick I think.

Dorus Mor - the great door, a channel with strong currents when the tide runs. Not to be confused with a wee deoch an' doris.

Wont be up until after 8pm - then will have to unpack car, blow up dinghy, load dinghy get stuff out to boat etc etc.

So we will be around - if lights are still on we will still be trying to get stuff stowed - if lights are off it could mean three things. We cant find out how to switch on lights - we have gone t'pub or lights dont work so have gone t'pub.

Its ok. I've found the 'leccy pump. 2 minutes to blow the thing up...

Is there a lockable area to keep the dinghy/outboard for a week?

there's a secure compound across the way at the top of the jetty - you might be better off sticking the outboard in the workshop- there's a rack for them upstairs. Will you row out then come alongside or stay out on the mooring - looking damp for Saturday methinks

Hadn't thought about coming alongside. Will probably load what's necessary for the night by dinghy then do the rest in the morning.

It rains up there does it? By Jove!

Still have sails to bend on etc.....

You thinking of a wee cruise somewhere?
