This may be no more than a dream for now but I have been looking at brokers in the US and was amazed at how much lower their prices can be in comparison with what we get in Europe, especialy in th UK.I could be in the market for a 10 to 12.5m boat and judging by the pictures there are many interesting offers there.I know that pictures give no real indication of the boat's true condition but I'm willing to stay in the US for a while and do a thorough search.
Has any of you done anything like this? What sort of taxes will I be expected to pay on arrival?
What about making the landfall in Madeira and get the paperwork done there?I hear that Vat is lower there.
Thanks

2 immediate concerns. First, if the used boat you buy here is not CE marked, you will have difficulties registering it your end. Second, unless you decide to sail her across the pond by yourself and with your own crew, figure on about 10,000 Pound Sterling for transportation.
