Boat broken into and 3 others also in the same Creek

Oh I do take it serious but I don't allow it to depress me. It's just property. You might be right. You might be wrong. It would be nice to ask. I once wrote a paper called 'People not Property' to argue a substantial change. It didn't change anything. Total failure. My fault.

As you say " I don't allow it to depress me. It's just property", but if the thieves were caught and/or you got some or all of your property back you would have a happy day. If I were you I would see it as a challenge. Thinking about who might have stolen your stuff, and why, is a good start to maybe getting all, or some of it back, and the thieves before the beak

What did TG do for employment ???

He was a Police officer. Whilst my post was directed to TG I thought my post might encourage others to make a contribution. For example in post #29 I suggested "when they got in the cockpit and chucked it overboard and it is now at the bottom of the creek.? Is it worth getting a diver down? ..... or a magnet on a line",. I thought maybe there was a diver or someone with a large magnet that might be able to help.

Also in post #29 I said "I know from my insurance broking days that theives often return for second helping when the insurance has paid out"", and TG said he "Did not support my theory". It was not theory, but my experience, it happens, so be aware

Well the secret's out now. I just said I didn't support your theory because, to me, this is a well planned and executed operation - at another boat a 500hp outboard was taken and brought ashore. I suffered the least compared to the others and a bit of money and time will reinstate my boat, perhaps even improve things. If you can survive nigh 40 years of crime scenes - clean, messy, bloody, horrific losing some kit like that is...... frankly ..... small stuff to me. OK, 40 years isn't accurate because I, lets just say, I got desk jobs but it was 30 years of crime scenes.

I totally agree we should be thinking ideas - and even the unusual. You remind me of the twin who was arrested for murder. In one of the team meetings one of the Detectives (Small Sad Sam, nice chap who sailed with me a few times) threw in a curved ball arguing it was the other twin. I best not digress.

I have a couple of traps regarding the property. They are outsider chances but I never discount the outsiders. I could bore you all to death by anecdotes proving the outside chances. Which does include the idea of using a diver. I just think it is too much of an outsider for the resouces. Mind you my original antique whistle which I inherited from a predessor is sitting on the seabed in Salcott Creek.

It would be good for anyone from the forum to casually look through Gumtree, Ebay etc. I will be doing that but as many who can check such possibilities (remember the auction suggestion) during a boring moment would be good.

To change the subject. It is fair to report now that one dinghy that was stolen to use the 500hp outboard from one of the other boats, floated the engine round to Mersea Beach where it could be unloaded from the dinghy to the van. The dinghy used to float the engine was just slashed and left on the beach - I am told it is still there. So it was all carefully planned. We can assume there was a recce and I think we can assume there was a boat to get out to the Creek in the first place. And where did that boat go after the van left? There are some possibilities. One, I find unpleasant.

Er. To return to the previous topic. Can I remind all of us that the standard procedure in a major investigation is for all the team members to participate in a brain storm to identify lines of enquiry. So no suggestion can be denied but choices for resource deployment, unfortunately, can and have to be limited.

Now I had promised SWMBO that I had stopped the consultancy. ?

Which bit of Mersea beach? Has anybody got security cameras that might have filmed this theft
