Small sailing cruiser with a blue hull dragged ashore in the South East corner of the Old harbour. Does anybody know the owner, who needs to move it before it is a wreck

Hi allan thanks for thinking of me. Just checked and the mighty atom is still on my driveway.
I dont know if they have rubbish moorings or vandals let them go but boats wandering around the old harbour are fairly common. I think the one in question is quite a nice little Mirror offshore. I dont know who owns it. Its been blown ashore before.The old harbour is a terrible place for a boat, no water at all on neap tides and lots of kids walking about the place. Can get a big swell rolling in there with wind in the South coinciding with there actually being any water in there at the time.
There is a nice patch of hard sand near the steps on the back of the breakwater which is good for scrubbing the bottom or whatever but you need settled weather a spring tide and I wouldnt leave a boat unattended there.

Why , because there are some out there who can not afford a nice boat who want to do a bit of sailing or use as a first boat to learn on. Also it would keep me out of mischief 
Upon saying that I would not go very high on the bidding because recovery and repair would eat into its possible selling price !

I have seen various cars and vans next to the boats in the harbouir in the past,dont know how they got down there though.

Madhatter - 'WHY?' was directed at Csail, who has a couple of boats already, including a 32 fter. Can certainly see the advantage of a cheap boat - my first was a £5 dinghy in need of a complete overhaul.

Could be worth recovering if someone really wanted it.
Had a look the other morning. Its parked on rocks but seems to have found a fairly flat one to lean on so damage may be just to gelcoat.
At the moment the mast sails and rigging are intact and look quite good.
The bow and stern hatches are missing as is the rudder.
If I were recovering it I would bolt an outboard bracket on the back walk the anchor out as far as poss and try to float it off on the next big spring tide. The gamble would be that there wouldnt be a Southerly gale that day.Also I would remove the mast and rigging now firstly to prevent theft and to reduce the weight/ draft a little for floating off.
There is a public slip into the old harbour where it could be floated onto a trailer or it could be moved around to Barry Docks Harbour and lifted out by the boat yard.
Financially it would probably not be worth the bother .You could buy one in a less precarious position and in useable condition for a grand.But if your like me and see it as a challenge then go for it.....
PS someone has "won" it for £146 good luck to whoever it is.
