Boat Alarm??

I bought my first one of these from London boat show £250 then I bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-Wired-Wire...SetTopBoxes&hash=item45f55bd9c2#ht_4969wt_689

Works for me because I put a 02 sim card in and it lasts ages , I have put door sensors on, smoke detectors, and it txt me if the power goes off.

In all it's a good cheap bit of kit for a fraction of the price, the only downfall was the instructions was hard work, now I control it from my mobile phone, piece of mind for cheap cost.

Hi Ian

The one I bought at the boat show is here http://www.eye-spy-security.co.uk/index.html this one is easy to set up and takes pictures, once set up your mobile would be the master and you can tell it to do loads, at any point you can have a pic sent to you, turn it off or on and even listen in from anywhere in the world.

you can buy very cheap a wireless door sensor and add up to 4 doors, or wireless bits, when the power goes off it will txt you and txt you again when its back on, great for those cold nights and your hoping your heaters are working. I have rang the marina before to tell them power is off and once the guy rang me to ask me if it was on.

The down side, it is very sensitive so you have to close blinds and have near blackout, if the sun is out and a cloud goes across to make a shadow it would go off, even a seagull flying. I set mine under the stairs and can see as people come down. last year the marina were going to do a small job and I asked the guy to txt me as he walks to my boat and I will turn alarm off, he forgot but I knew and txt him him to tell him to remove his shoes as I could see him on his way down the stairs. It takes a slide show of 5 pics.

the last time I put credit on was July so it doesnt use a lot. you can set it up to email you as well.

Im not connected to these just think they are very good for the money.

Thanks Arrrrggggg

There are so many on the market, just bought (err, ordered online) a UB480 GSM with bilge level sensor, PIR and door magnet

Soon as fitted will report back

Do these have the option to attach a GPS feed to tell you if the boats been moved (and where it is if it has) and / or a bilge alarm??

They do look good value

Just wondering if there are any other opinions or suggestions?

Wandering through Weymouth marina I noticed a Broom with an A4 laminated sheet bluetacked to the side of the cockpit that said in big letters

"REMEMBER TO TURN OFF ALARM BEFORE OPENING THE DOOR!".

Did he even have an alarm fitted?

I reckon I'll make myself one, it probably scares off opportunists.

Did the different frequency (315 MHz compared to UK 433MHz) not make a difference? Or did you order the more expensive (?) 433MHz one? It looks a good bit of kit for the money.

If it had arrived!!!!

I'd be able to tell you, chased every day and the guy says he'll phone me back after he's found out where it's got to in the registered post system!
