Boat Aground at Shotley

Contessa 26 ?

Nice looking boat. No damage hopefully .

NW wind must have built quite a fetch down the Orwell for moorings up to Levington.

I wonder if MDL moved any boats at Woolverstone .

She looks a bit bigger than a Contessa, and her windows are 'wrong'.

I'd guess a Halmatic 30?

Whatever she is, let's hope she went down, and comes up, without any real damage.

Definitely a Halmatic 30, we owned one for about 10 years, should come up OK. I suppose it is possible the cockpit could flood through the drains and overflow into the bilge through the access hatch in the cockpit floor if it was not well sealed?
Hope all goes well. Anyone know where she was moored? There are several on the river, but I cannot recall a dark blue one with red sails and spray hood.

I think she may be a Pin Mill boat

Unfortunately boats breaking adrift and dragging their moorings is a problem if you dont know who it was. We suffered significant damage at Pin Mill on Friday afternoon when a 9 ton boat next to us dragged and finished alongside in wild conditions. Gus at Kings, Pin Mill very thoughtfully moved the offending boat to one of his spare moorings.

Is that classed as an Act of God, an uncontrollable event? IE. You have to claim on your own insurance as the other party was not responsible for the damage.

Sorry for the drift.

The mooring of the offending yacht was a sinker of dubious size. Potentially a can of worms and a lot of different people share responsibility. PMSC moorings have a recommended size and type of mooring gear- not a sinker. As you say it needs to have been serviced regularly. Nothing broke on the mooring but it moved . Not for the first time.

When we got weather damage and Act of God was mentioned.

Our daughter who is a claims specialist suggested, “God don’t own boats‼️

The insurers paid in full.?

Man buys yacht, has or puts in a suitable mooring.......... all fine.......
Man buys bigger boat.....it will be fine..... never moved......must be so well dug in by now.......
