Boarding step - CSpray

I'm looking for a boarding step and have come across one made by CSpray who advertised recently in YM. The one I am interested in is the 'One Step Boarding ladder' which is not cheap at £76 approx, with brackets, but it's not clear whether postage is included in that.

They are at www.cspray.co.uk I have never heard of CSpray before and they seem to be manufacturers selling direct rather than via chandleries. Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience of this product?

If you only need one step, consider a fenderstep

Compass have them for £50, but I'm fairly sure my local swindlery has them for less (Hardway Marine).

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering about those but it is quite a long way up and and we would like to invite elderly and infirm relatives to visit (we live aboard). I think that the fenderstep would be too difficult for them but it could be a godsend for us from time to time and much easier to deploy than a fixed step when coming alongside so I will have a look.

For the elderly and infirm, I assume that they'll be boarding from a pontoon, so perhaps some rigid steps made of ply and left on the pontoon when daysailing could be a lot cheaper, as well as easier to negociate - could make your life eaier as well!

You could use shuttering ply which is reasonably weatherproof and dirt cheap - just not pretty. I made a cockpit floor (to replace the original grating) out of some a few years ago and it's still going strong

Thank you for your suggestion. We're planning to sail to the Med in the late spring, meanwhile we are in marinas but being shunted about quite a bit so it would be a pain to cart a large wooden thing about. However, I agree that this would be the most acceptable solution for the elderly person!
