Good evening,

First post, be gentle ?

We are in the process of coding our Aquastar 33 for fishing and coastal cruises. We are on a drying mooring, so will be using a tender to board. I'm looking to install a ladder system over the stern, I'm sure I've seen somewhere D shape brackets the bolt through. (Bit like those found on fire doors to pull them open). Anybody else seen these? If so where from?

Secondly a quite pressing, in order to code we need a training manual (not yellow code book), something that gives info on the craft and life saving equipment etc. Anybody got any pointers for this?

Thanks for your help chaps!

Was just about to repky to pm then saw this, so will reply here.

the training manual is a crummy book with generic instructions on liferafts, but you have to have it, and punchy at £90 http://www.safety-marine.co.uk/book...7s45/mca-code-of-practice-training-manual.htm

Ref your PM, I had this manual as a pdf given to me by a surveyor ages ago, >10yrs, but not sure if I can find the file as I am 20 computers beyond then (!). I also have a proper original hard copy one bought from bookshop and mint, that I can post to you (foc but please put £5 in the rnli tin), but it is in France and I might not be there for a couple of weeks; I don't know if you can wait that long.

For the ladder you want different types of bracket depending on whether your ladder fits snug to the hull, or has big handrail loops at the top, etc. Just google image "boarding ladder bracket stainless steel" to see the huge range available. OTOH if you state exactly what design of ladder you're buying then people can suggest the correct type. If you mean big D's that actually form the steps (I'm thinking of yr fire door comment...) , then again there are lots eg item 1614 1/3rd down this page http://www.angleseymarinesupplies.com/deck-fittings-hardware.php

Thank you both!

The Anglesey marine supplies link is the job!

your offer of the book is gratefully welcomed and I would ensure a donation is made via the Penlee Lifeboat Station.
Thank you both so much for your assistance

Ok i'll come back to you when I have the book - might take a short while.

Before buying those steps you might want to consider having them custom made at your local s/s shop. Depends on budget of course but that catalogue step has a pretty horrid reverse side weld where the tube meets the plate, and the radius is a bit big, and the screws attaching the wood are ugly (screwing from bottom side into threaded inserts would be much nicer), and so on. They're ok but you could do better with custom build, admittedly at 2x the price
