Boa constrictor

Still in the toolbox but as yet I haven't found anything the tool is uniquely suitable for.

Jam jar lids!

I have chain wrench. It grips the filter Ok but the design of the thing is all wrong and i have to wire or at least tape the chain in position. It came free with a can of oil from Halfords about 25 years ago..... so its been used a few times. I have never punched a hole through the side of a filter.

Chain wrench won't reach on my bike, the filter is shrouded by castings.
Whacking a screwdriver through it and letting the oil drain out is actually often the cleanest way if you can catch all the oil.
Gets messy when the metal is very thing and tears instead of undoing.
Best answer is a filter socket that grips the flats on the filter, but not all filters have the same number of flats....

The main thing about the Boa is that it won't damage most surfaces.

Why apply so much force to tighten the oilfilter so it needs a tool to be removed?

Hand tighten has done it for years on our boat,no leaks, no mess to remove.(lol,it leaks oil,:disgust:)

A dry cloth round the filter helps to grip oily filter cans, by hand or with strap wrench. You need 2 to open stubborn jamjars. I think mine came from a normal UK hardware store.
