Hi Lindon, I have a 19' GlasPly Marauder with BMW B220 / MK ll leg and rebuilt it substantially in 4 yrs. If you have limited mechanical knowledge stay away from spending money. The time and hard labour continue and it will never finish. Get yourself into a pod & 200 hp 4 str Yamaha or whatever else you can get for cheap. As to my rebuild it now runs like it has never before. Pertronix electronic ignition with a new Flamethrower coil make a huge impression. An expensive SS marine manifold, dual batteries and a lot of time consuming work in the mechanical and electronic sector finally seem to come to a halt. A real change is the change over to a Solas prop which lowered my cruising RPM by 400 to keep it at 25mph, now 3800 instead of 4200. This is not only better economy but it comes out of the hole a lot faster. You may have to change the anode to allow for the clearance required by the prop. The anode from a 150hp Yamaha will do with some modification on a lathe. Either clock or counter clock rotation whichever yours might be.
I tried different gauges but in most case you are stuck with the expensive selection offered by V12 Engineering who now are located in Vancouver BC. I also converted the seating areas and removed sink and alcohol stoves and got 12"-15" adjustable Springfield Mainstay seats. Looks better and gives more room on the deck. Most upholstery is removed and replaced by Starboard Plastic. It now is a great fishing boat with the original Cuddy, the best Cuddy by comparison with the likes of Trophy, Double Eagle, Campion, Striper etc. in my estimation. I can stretch out and rest in comfort! This boat is now the envy when at some time ago it was the epitome of all used boats.
