Bluewater detergents

(It's a need to know question) ... Are there any UK detergents that are capable of washng clothes in seawater so as to give you a non-sticky dried garments?

No! Not that I've found, you can wash them in salt water, with salt water soap/detergent, but if you want them to dry, you will need to rinse them in fresh. This was told to me by my brothers wife, who over 15 years living onboard and sailing the world, she never found anything that would do it. It's apparently the salt which gets left behind, absorbing natural condensation. I've tried myself, with rig detergent especially for salt water, fine on all things except cloth.

G’day NigeCh.
I have used all manner of soaps and detergents and have found that a little Nappy San in a plastic container with enough seawater to cover the items washes fine with just the boat motion on a days sailing. However, you must rinse the remaining soap out in salt water and a final rinse in fresh water. Blue Clinic shampoo also works well in salt water.

I wash my laundry at sea with cheap shampoo -
which suds up in sea water.
IF you have a hot dry day(ho) and your clothes do get dry
without
rinsing with fresh
then you can beat most of the salt cristals out
before they do their hygroscopic
number...
