Good morning

looking at installing under water light when I next have the boat lifted. I'm not sure I can justify the cost of lumishore but I've dome across Bluefin LED and wondered if anyone has any experience of them?

Regards Ian

We have the Piranha P6 CCs which are fine on our boat (22ft)

Colour control is via the power on/off switch sequencing so we tend to set the chosen colour on departure and leave it on that setting. There is a colour sequence setting which after a period of running sees the lights get out of sequence with each other, I see the new P24CCs claim to have technology to overcome this.

The higher up the range models have a colour controller which would be better

Lumishores are hard to beat and sold by a member of this parish. I fitted them a few years back, absolutely brilliant! (In more ways than one).

Yup Lumishores are the top stuff and fitted nowadays by Lurssen but if pricing is much better and you're happy with the product then Bluefin looks ok ish. Their fixture lumen claims have been questioned and I doubt they even possess an integrating sphere to measure it properly, so beware of the numbers claimed, but the pics above show what you get. Lumis are very substantially brighter if you want that - vid here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM3qRuVEqlU.

The thing you won't know for a while is whether the Bluefins will last or fail (the electronics rather than the LEDs per se), but you pays yer money/takes yer chance :) Good luck - uw lights are good fun

Morning all.

JFM I love your boat and actually am following your YouTube channel. :-)

I like the cost of the blue fin ones but love the lumishore product.

I have a Targa 43, how many lights and what lumishore product will be suited to me as its rater a minefield.

Thanks

Ian

I've got 3 Lumishore colour-change surface mount lights fitted to my Targa 40, that's definitely enough for a boat of my size. You could get away with two if you wanted. This is from when they were installed:

Looks great that mate

Honestly I can't remember, sorry, I fitted these five years ago now. Surface mount colour change 12v should be enough to identify the current product.

Hi Folks --

JTB -- they were SMX150s in 2011 ? Maybe 12 ? You definitely had some of the very first of the model.

Anyways , we recently launched the SMX153 although we passed on product SMX151 ..

.. aarrgghh and I thought the coding a well-hidden secret.
Dont tell anyone but we didn't think his technology 'quite' innovative enough ..

I guess it isn't true that he was bidding against Richard (I'm too smx151 for my shirt) Fairbrass, then? :encouragement:
