In the 1960's when the BMC Diesels were being fitted in the Austin J4 Diesel Van. I had a garage which sold vans and over a period of about 5 years I bought probably about 30 Austin J4 vans from a large haulage business, many had done over 300,000 miles and driven flat out as the maximum speed was only about 50 mph. They all blew blue smoke out due to the high mileage. Consequently with the wear on the piston rings and cylinder bore compression was down and in a morning the only way to start the engine was to use easy start.hi guy's, my thornycroft bmc 1500 diesel is blowing out blue smoke from exhaust, is there an easy fix for this and roughly how much would it cost, any hep woul be realy appreciated,
