even 20 years ago when I was based at Melton it felt like a boat park along most of the river. I used to love the winter when they all went ashore. I used to wish they'd dig out something of Falkenham marshes, make a big marina, and oblige people to park their never used boats there instead.

Yes indeed. The Buxey Ashes. Magical place., Ribs of an old shipwreck too.

I've just found a couple of photos of the Ashes from 1988. I've no doubt that my shot in the second would have been a six.

A challenge match sounds possible. Though wearing browns as opposed to whites might be more practical.

Pure compacted sand. No mud anywhere on the Buxey. At least I didn’t see any. Golden clean sand as far as you can see.. got photos somewhere. Edit, found one
