Blue moon - Wikipedia

I had always understood that it referred to a calender month with two full moons....but it's a bit more than that.

I quite like the 'supermoon' label that's used a lot now. I suppose some yachts...people in big tidal waters of the UK will see the effects the most. Sad though for those in Florida about to get a hurricane on top of it....

Was down our small mariner earlier. The pontoon security gate is heavy and always needs taking charge of as it opens down slope. At high water today, it crept towards me.... :D

Walked up the pontoon walkway in Lymington yesterday. Today found the tide outside Cowes turned earlier than expected and ran faster this morning.

Boat names with "moon" seem to be quite popular. I suppose sailing or anchored at night with just the moon for company is quite magical. I had a boat called Sea Moon .
