Ok so I found out the hard way why blue anchor is called blue anchor. What a bloody mess!

If I'd have known I wouldn't have put so much chain out.

Blue clay in every link and all over the foredeck, anchor locker, my face, the dog etc.... as I was pulling it up.

And my local is called 'Blue Anchor' because the ships used to travel across to the old port in Aberthaw.

I've anchored there a couple of times and just found common-or-garden mud. Not too messy. We go in fairly close to low water and anchor in about 4m, towards the Watchet side.
