I was at SYH earlier checking on my boat and a couple of us watched a 23 footer? Sailing up the Orwell; no main and a tiny scrap of Genoa and they were flying! Had the river to themselves - don't know if it was anyone on here but hey looked like fun!!

It was me wee just cruise down from Harwich after a little sail from Brightlingsea the night before. We went back today with even less main out and a rather lumpy wallet to contend with.

Only six weeks to Easter....historically the start of the sailing season for us...can't wait :encouragement: .... new to us boat to sail away from reality! :)

Mmmm...

If Easter is early, there's a chance that some parts of the country will get snow; in fact, it is more likely to snow at Easter than it is at Christmas.

On 31 March 2013, temperatures dropped to -12.5 °C in Braemer in the Scottish Highlands making it the coldest Easter. It seems when Easter falls early in the year temperatures are often low, as in 1986 temperatures fell to -9.8 °C at Lagganlia in Inverness-shire on 31 March, Easter Monday.
Easter 1-3 April 1983 was the snowiest Easter with Scotland, the Midlands and Kent getting up to 10 cm of snow.
Snow has fallen at Easter quite regularly in recent years, even at lowland areas, although not necessarily lying unmelted on the ground. Easters where falling sleet or snow has been recorded at a large number of weather stations include 2013, 2008, 1998, 1994, 1986, 1983, 1978, 1977 and 1975. Most recently 33 cm of snow was recorded at Easter on the 3 April 2010 in Strathdearn Dalrossie in Inverness-shire.
