I always have a week off in May and have always been lucky with the weather sometimes basking in glorious sunshine. This year my week off starts next Sat. (16th) the long range forecast is pretty depressing. No temps above 11 degrees and that's during the day so it looks like leave cancelled and now trying to get a week off in June. I know I could still go and enjoy the sailing but a wet, cold week on the west of Scotland or North coast of ireland is about as bad as it gets. Anyone else's plans on hold?

I was in Brodick for a few days recently. When the sun was out it was fine, but cool. More March/October than anything I recall for May weather. Some of the rain was accompanied by hailstones!!
If we don't get some milder air soon, we'll suddenly find it's skipped to September, with no summer to speak of? Not planning to go anywhere much until June, but the current weather and the Pentland Firth would not be a pleasant mixture....

I was out of the water for a week In Port Bannatyne last month and have been itching to get up the west coast since. No nice gentle easterlies forthcoming for the Mull so maybe it will have to be the Crinnan soon.

After three weeks' scraping the old lady's bum I thought I would be ready for the water for the start of June, but I may as well hold off.
I may well launch and stay in Ardrossan where at least I can get round to re-glazing the portlights (thanks, Ian) before heading to the mooring.
Maybe it will warm up for the autumn Clyde Scuttlebutt!

Personally I would consider it too far ahead to write off a week already planned due to forecast.

Don't despair. I've got a boat move to do next week and for the last five days the long range charts have been truly dreadful - until this morning when all of a sudden it's looking OK.
Could still go the other way, of course.

What a coincidence. We are starting our 2 week May break next week and having moved our boat from sunny Scotland to the South of France will have to put up with temps in the low to mid 20s and force 3 winds for possibly the whole time. This combined with a strengthening £ will make the trip unbearable!
