Newtown creek, lots of sh--ty green weed pulled into the engine raw water pipe which has a 90° bend on entrance, is there a simple bit to go into the hole on the out side to make it into quarters so I th at it can't make a bung,,,if you see what I mean

Tried the pump. No good . eventually had to take it all apart and poke it out. 3/4 skin fitting straight onto a 90 then lever valve. Domed cage is what it needs

Whoever designed that 90° bend in the system needs keelhauled!

It should be as easy as removing the jubilee clips, pulling the hose off the thru hull, opening the valve and poking a screwdriver through.

We had an inlet blockage of very fine green weed some seasons ago off Langstone Harbour.

The old screwdriver was a non starter-it just moved a couple of strands at a time.

First mate suggested the spare insert for our posh corkscrew.

This worked a treat. The hose was removed, the blockage still stopped the water from blowing it clear.

Once cleared with the corkscrew insert I turned the seacock on and the resulting jet of water blew the rest out.

It would have been a far different matter with a 90 degree bend :(

Change the 90 degree bend for a tee with a plug in the vertical leg of the tee.

You will be able to remove the plug to clear any weed
