Well I've laid up. Pretty depressing init?

Still I've got to:

clean the bilge (old diesel spill)
stop the spurting on the calorifier
work out a way so that in the future I can properly drain the calorifier wiothout emptying it into the bilge (from where it has to be pumped out!)
remake the galley worktops
shall I fit a holding tank?
reposition to genny tracks so I can get the angle right!
should I work out a support for the largish rigid solar panel, son managed to acquire?
shall I entirely refurb the saloon?
shall I make that new locker top in the cockpit to make a fender locker that doesn't involve all that bending?
bit worried about a slight musical tinkle from the engine - is the circulation pump or the alternator wearing?
take the sails to be valeted
wash all the running rigging (wait for SWMBO to go out)
put the batteries on float charge
check and whip all flakey whippings
sort out a new tackle to make the kicking strap effective
generally clean up!

Oh dear, what am I going to do next month?

I Henry`d the whole boat inc. the bilges last Saturday.
Amazing what one finds & how much of it.
removed the heater for service, it stopped for no reason & i cant find a fault apart from no pwr to the glo plug
we will stay in until April

Wind genny trouble should be sorted by X-Mas.
Staying in this year - will arrange a lift/hold/drop in the spring to change the anodes.
Also plan to clean out/sort the anchor locker in the Spring. Not been 'in there' for a couple of years - it will be interesting to see what we find.
Other than that, plan to go sailing whenever possible, starting Saturday.

Daft question.

Should i place a rag into exhaust pipe, to stop cold air going up to engine?.
In my yard, some do, some dont:confused:

Any thoughts?..

My diesel leak got sorted today - a loose banjo on the return. Back to sailing again :)

I'm staying in as usual and I'm even thinking about skipping a spring lift. I fitted a big shaft anode last spring that should be OK. I might buy a Brizo Hullmate to clean the bottom before a trip to Amsterdam and beyond in May - cheaper than a lift out.

Had Beguine out of the water a couple of weeks ago, new hull anode, quick anti-foul (going to Coppercoat next year) and back in last week ready for a bit of winter sailing.

We always seem to catch a few great days sailing during the winter and we always like to try to get out at least once during the festive season.

Nothing beats a clear, crisp winter day when you can see for miles and that cuppa with a spike is so warming.

We should be launched in the next two weeks!
Lost track of all the refit tasks but we have now run out of budget so in we shall go.
Overall really delighted with how she's turned out, a complete transformation really so feeling ok about spending up to our budget limit. Managed an refurb on the cabin sole which has lifted everything.
I think Foxs will be sad to see us go as we have provided a bit of entertainment as well as steady stream of extra jobs! Can thoroughly recommend the yard very skilled and approachable.
Looking forward to getting out and about and finding a cosy berth for the winter.
New list for the spring when we have had a chance to recoup.
Can't wait!

Where are you off to once launched? Woolverstone/RHYC?

We are in all winter as usual. It's a pleasure to sail on a sharp winters day as there's generally less 'traffic'.

It is always good to go to Oostende and likewise to have a beer, even if I am to be first at the bar.
We are looking at options for the berth, have been in touch with Haven, need to know about options at Foxs and not sure we can pull a winter berth at MDL. rHYC is a little exposed for a full winter.

The Haven does offer close proximity for the family to go and shop etc but the lock gates are a factor. Part of this winter being in is to get the crew up to shape with a new boat so coming alongside a lot isn't necessarily a downer given my children require a bit of encouragement to get stuck in with lines and fenders.

Last few items to sort then it's a splash of bubbly and away we go.
