I have never yet employed a British resident who wanted to go over to the European country's tax system in which they are working. They all and I mean all opt to remain under the British tax system.
I wonder why?

What's your total tax burden, and how does it compare with similarly civilised(?) countries?

Interesting - have a look at this:

Time to move to Mexico - but only 4 EU countries below us...................

Sorry I started this!

Excellent. Just the sort of information you need.
Of course it doesn't help visitors coming here from countries where they pay their tax up-front as direct taxation, then get here and start paying tax to our Gov as indirect taxation.

You pay less income tax in spain, less vat (16%) less for fuel, less for housing, so OK, If I work for you in Spain, I'll take the Spanish tax route thankyou! But Norway or Holland, no thanks. If I work in say Dubai and live in the UK I pay taxes in the uk, on all the money, if I work in Dubai and live in france however I dont pay french taxes, they reckon I pay enough in indirect taxes. Same goes for Portugal and Spain. UK has high overall taxation, taking into consideration the cost of living there and paying so called stealth taxes! I know where I will be living, whilst in the EU.

Strange that the evidence doesn't show this.

What evidence, forget the tax versus GDP, I cant see what tax and GDP have as a comparison?? But I'm not an accountant type, so I think I will retire, we read different evidence. forget I spoke.

"Colin, you really should know by now that his name is spelt "Bliar" and not "Blair" "

B Liar works for me!

and for the sake of ballance Churchill wasn't always a resounding success remember the Dardanelle campaign WW1? Nor me..too young but my grandad said it was a major cockup!
