I'm about to re-commission m engine - Yanmar 2GM - after winter layup. I want to drain some fuel from the main fuel filter to check for water or other contamination. Picture of filter/separator attached.

Do I need to bleed the fuel system after draining a sample from the bottom of the filter?
Also, what's the procedure for changing the filter element? I would think; Close fuel cock on tank, change element, open cock, bleed using black button on filter housing.
Another thing, does anyone know what type of element would fit - I think its a CAV unit, but the code C4161 doesn't seem to ring any bells with suppliers
Thanks for your help

the small bolt in the bottom is for draining of any water, just open 1-2 turns place a cup under and collect any water 'if any' do bolt back up,the small nipple top right is the blead of ,normaly 7-8mm spanner size push a small hose over the nipple place hose in milk bottle with aprox 25mm of fuel in bottom, open nipple with spaner 1 turn, pump GENTLY on black button till clean fuel with no bubbles apear in bottle close nipple,if black button is hard to push do not force as this can damage the rubber seal,"diafram" but can not spell it

C4161 is the Fram part number for the filter. It is a very common filter and you can pick one up just about anywhere. I work in the motor trade and stock these in Mann & Hummel, part number P945X.
