Bleed Screw Leak

I have a fuel leak from the bleed screw on the secondary fuel filter on my Yanmar. Somebody has said that the aluminium threads can get stretched and this could be the cause. Can I fit a washer and if so should it be copper or fibre?

If the threads are aluminium I would'nt want to put any more stress on them so I'd use a fiber washer in preference to a copper one.
