Bleach and ropes

On a scale of A to D where A is "excellent resistance" to chemical attack and D is "severely affected" the resistance of nylon to bleach is only C.

A quick rinse with dilted bleach will kill the algae but the green colour may not be instantly bleached. Likewise Patio magic etc will quickly kill the algae but the green colour will take a while to disappear.

One of the benefits of using PM etc is that the active ingredient remains active for some time another is of course that it does not harm the rope
I used PM but did wonder about Milton. Where does that stand on your A-D scale Vic?

Pleased to report that my bleach has made a brilliant job of cleaning the algea. Dilute solution of power force from Aldi. Apparently it's 5% chlorine based bleaching agents. I put two good squirts in about 3 gallons and soaked for a day and a half stirring occasionally. Then washed on 30 minutes programme. Absolutely sparkling white.

No doubt but with that much exposure to chlorine bleach they could be somewhat weaker now
