Blanking Unused Skin Fitting

Whilst taking out an unwanted water maker out I have been left with two redundant skin fittings 1" dia above the waterline. I may at some time in the future have a use for these but for the foreseeable am looking to use, ideally white plastic, skin fitting with a blanking cover screwed on.

Does anyone know where I can get these fittings as it seems they are rare and I can't find any in plastic, only metal. Any other suggestions as to how best to blank off welcome.

I should mention that one of the hose fittings snapped (plastic) when removing the hose from it so I need to replace with something.

If the fitting is bronze you could probably use a plumbing blanking cap as I did on one mine. I plastic you may well find a suitable cap in domestic applications. Trip to B&Q called for. As it is above water no permanent load on it so attaching cap with Sika will do.

They are probably 3/4" BSPP, which are around 1" dia, in which case these will do nicely at under a quid. http://www.screwfix.com/p/bsp-blank-nut/39553

I had to blank a skin fitting for a while so I cut the hose about six inches from the skin fitting, pushed a length of broom handle into it and put two jubilee clips round it. It looked a bit Heath Robinson but it worked fine, and was behind a locker anyway.

There are "plastic" skin fittings,that "snap" (as you found) fairly soon after purchase/install.
There are better quality "nylon,etc" that stand up better. Bronze,DZR,etc are best,but pricey. Cheers/Len
