Ok we went out on out own for the first time yesterday, when we got back into the marina i had a peep inside the engine bay and noticed some water in the bilge. I then noticed a black plastic tube about 6 inches long with a screw top with blanking plub wrote on it..Any idea where this has come from? Is my boat going to sink? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif oh they are kad32 engines if that helps.

I suspect this might be the blanking plug for the paddle wheel (Speed Sensor). It is used when you need to pull the paddle wheel out to clean it. What size (diam) is it?

Hi im not at the boat now but the tube was about maybe an inch or a bit less in diameter, I believe before we picked the boat up they did something to this because the speed guage was not reading correctly. Is it easy to find where is goes?

Hi Matt, I think DJ is correct, It sounds as though it's a blanking plug that you use to fill the hole that the paddle wheel sits in during normal operation. You only use it when you take the paddle wheel out for cleaning, the one on my boat is attached with a cable tie to the actual housing.

Don't worry, it's not come adrift.

It's good fun when you come to clean the paddle wheel, the amount of water that gushes in to the bilge is alarming. I would ask to see someone else who has done it before you attempt it yourself.
