Blackwater to Gravelines

Sounds like a better plan!
Out of Calais 2 hours before HW - and then leg it up to Gravelines!!

Are there any good restaurants in Gravelines?? or is it that quiet its a cook on board?

Cheers

Ian

p.s Jim... coffee on the morrow?

Restaurants in Gravelines:

http://www.lasymphonie.fr/

http://www.leturbot.com/

Both very French restaurants so they're a taste and culture experience............ one course won't fill you so go for one of the, many and varied, fixed 3/4 course menus. My personal favourite is La Symphonie but Le Turbot usually rates slightly higher with most.

Also an excellent sandwich shop in the square for a takeaway experience and don't miss out on the Queen Mary pub in the corner of the square.

Lots of history and walks around the town walls/moat............. you'll need more than a couple of days to take it all in.

Forgot to mention the walks along the banks of the River Aa (unbelievably pronounced ah-ah) down to Grand Fort Philippe, Petit Fort Philippe and the beach.......... but you can always go back again for that :)

Paul.

Thanks for all the info....

So has anyone ever left Gravelines and made it in to Calais on the same tide?

Many thanks

Ian

P.S The thought of rolling around on a buoy outside Calais, would not do wonders for matrimonial bliss onboard!!!

The tidal is not to be underestimated, but it shouldn't be a problem, Gravelines is a lot easier than it appears

Whilst the Lidl is convenient, the better one is a 15 min saunter down the main road - on the grass verge if I remember correctly
Really excellent meat department there. Really worth the walk. Very good range of produce.
The Lidl isn't bad either.

Have eaten a couple of times at the Yacht Club, its not cheap but the food was very good.

Regards

Ian
