The old guy who gave me it is a friend of the family and had become (sadly) too frail to look after her.
He never sailed her though actually, and swapped her for his last boat (as older gents sometimes seem to do!) - but couldn't do her justice, so she came to me.

Like somebody else posted, clean her up, and sail her also take the old chap who gave her to you for a sail as well.

I am sure that he would appreciate and enjoy it.

Hi James

I too have what i believe to be a 65 Blackwater Sloop. I am currently restoring her and hope to get her back in the water this summer.

I initially planned to tidy her up...but decided on something a bit more thorough. lots of new ribs, new plywood deck, coachroof and cockpit. If i can be of help just ask.

I have lots of pictures..i will post them ..when i find out how to ! If you find out how to formally identify yours let me know .

As you say not a great deal on these boats on line

Regards

Kieran

Thanks for all the kind posts about my Blackwater (or possibly not Blackwater!) sloop.

I still haven't decided what to do with her - despite all the brilliant advice from this forum.

However, if I do decide to sell her, does anyone have an idea as to how much something like this might fetch - or at least what price she should be advertised at?

I'm tempted to sell her on, as I can't really do her justice, and then buy a (sorry wooden boat owners!!) a GRP motor boat instead.

Any suggestions as to value?

Best wishes,

James.

PS Suky 2004 - I've sent you a private message too....
