Hi Easter Coaster's. Need info on Blackwater Marina as I'm thinking of leaving my boat moored there for about a month to do some blackwater sailing.

I know it dries there and has about 1 to 2 hours either side of the tide, but the place has not got what I feel is good security.

Your advise please.

I've not heard that their security is poor. They recently had an unfortunate fire but that I understood to be a genuine accident. There's a certain risk around any marina/mooring; we had some outboard thefts at the end of last year at Mersea and Marconi; didn't think that there were any at BM but someone might correct me. Desperately tidal as you known. Bradwell gives much more access to water, Tollesbury much less than Bradwell but a bit more than BM. Heybridge gives about the same access tide wise but once afloat you are in the River and do not have a creek to clear. That said Lawling Creek used to be a favourite overnight stop - seals playing in the midnight moonshine and all that.

We are in Bradwell, looked at all the available options on the Blackwater and decided on Bradwel to give us the maximum time out on the water as and when we want it.
Blackwater were the only ones that didnt reply to my email enquiry about moorings.......
