My BB11 open keelboat of many years was black, this being a lightly built mahogany carvel on oak rib affair. White ply deck, lots of brightwork, gold cove line, you get the picture.. A real beauty. sailed well too. (think 50's Maserati vs Ford focus AWB thingy). - got really hot in summer sun, and always had a few line splits appearing at that time, which wept a bit when pressing on. If I'd kept her I would have re-painted a lighter colour - probably a very pale green (not white, no way).
I suppose it depends how she's built - but a fine lined black hull does look good. A number of double diagonal local class keelboats up here are black too, guess they have no such problem.
