Black stripe continuing the window line round the coachroof on yachts.....

Hi chaps,
Can anyone post pics/ links to pics of yachts with the gaps between the windows painted black to mask the window shapes please? Im toying with the idea and need help to visulise it. Google images doesnt help me, Ive tried umpteen combinations of search wording.

I've only ever seen it on a Virgo Voyager and it looks horrid IMO. That was the standard way they were done but those who have changed have made the boat look better.

Even 1939 Germany wouldn't have inflicted the Virgo Voyager on us...some French designs have the windows in a band, also some 1980's Feelings and I seem to remember the Prospect 900 from Ridgeway Marine had this.

If you can't do it on your computer try using black insulating tape or gaffer tape and stand back to look at it. Take a pic with and without.

Have a look at the Sabre 27 website...a few late boats have one big acrylic window covering two apertures.

The painted ones always seemed to craze and look terrible within a few years.

I have done this using sign vinyl. On a couple of boats it looks quite good. Gives a illusion of lengthening the boat

You can just see the black between the windows to continue the line. Not finished but gives you an idea.

I can't see it giving the visual effect that your looking for. The frames will "break" the line.

Give me length and width and i will supply some offcuts of vinyl at a good price. You will need to trim to size but its marine grade and easy to experiment with or remove if you don't like it.
