Black rubber rubbing strakes help

Hi all
Bought our 36 foot motor boat in Jan. As with all used boats comes more maintenance than anticipated.
Our rubbing strakes are great however when you touch them you end up with black hands. All fender lines are black where they're in touch with them. Any ideas how to treat them so that they don't make everything they touch black.
Look forward to any advice.

Leave them as they are. It will guarantee you freedom from rafting boats in marinas.

I suspect all you can do is give them a good scouring with Scotchbrite pad to get the old ozidized rubber off. Then be glad they are there!

I use PVCU solvent cleaner(smells of pears) and lots of rags.

If indeed the rubber has been ozidized, I suspect that the cure would be to stop playing Black Sabbath records.

I'd do what both Thinwater and Flynnbarr said - Double glazing workshops usually keep the cleaner in stock in large amounts and you might want a scotchbrite pad on a polisher rather than a large quantity of elbow grease.
