All the more reason for having water traps with drains, on the bottom of well designed fuel tanks.

In lots of cases it simply isn't possible. Maybe I've been lucky with the fuel I've bought from various places over the years, but I've never once found any water in the separator bowl of the filter. But I was once subjected to diesel bug, with filters getting blocked by sticky black deposits.

Totally agree, I've got the water trap drain in the tank (bespoke stainless) but have to rely on fuel sloshing about to get the rest moving about, in a perfect world I'd have it out but that's a cost I don't won't. I'm out of the woods with my contamination, all brought on from a failed filler cap seal, trade wise the filters come in at £1.38, with the manifold switch over and a big seringe I can change wile engine is still running, (hopefully a thing of the past now)
