Can anyone tell me where I might get some of the rigid plastic material/sheet used in the 80's for mounting switches in on Control Panels? I need a piece about 30 X 60 cm. The original stuff does not melt or burn; is 4.5 mm thick and has a white centre layer for engraving purposes, but that's not essential.

Thanks in advance.

Don't know the trade name for it but any label maker should be able to supply it. A few jewellers locally do engraved name badges etc. so could supply.

That's the stuff, I think you're spelling is correct. It's a cross between Bakelite and Formica to use.
Be careful as it shaters if abused and the splinters can cut like glass. I still have the scars from my apprenticeship days.

Yes the stuff is called something like "Trefolyte". About 20 years ago I had
an instrument panel made out of it by Furneaux- Riddell (hope the spelling is
correct) .They are still trading so you could try them. I believe they are always at the Southampton Boat Show.

The stuff is called Traffolyte and comes in many colours and thickness. It is a snadwich material so engraving gives you names etc. I make lots of these panels for the Vega owners club and others. Just give me an approx size, cut outs needed and names and I will get a price for you. If you want I can email you a photo of some of the panels I have made.
