Having lived on the boat most of the last two years, we have a problem with dirty bottoms which translates onto the seats below!
We have "teak" seats in the cockpit (Bavaria 34) which is sealed with black stuff. After having ruined numerous trousers, not only light coloured ones, and spread the colour onto the cushions below, which fortunately clean quite easily, has anyone else got this problem? Has anyone got a solution other than not to sit down? Or was it the extreme hot weather this year in southern Europe?

I have a Beneteau with similar "teak" cockpit seats, and it is in the Med in the sun without an awning (most of the time); never had that problem. Haven't seen or heard that problem on any pf the BAvs here in Nettuno either.
Maybe the Sikaflex or whatever Bav use did not cure properly ???
Sorry this does not help with problem, at least in a solution.

G'day Chris,

It sounds like the sealant is the problem, have you tried cleaning it with some powerful solvents at some time in the past? and perhaps caused it to soften a bit. Or maybe the manufacturer used the wrong solvent to clean up.

You could try removing the top layer and re-sealing it, just make sure you have a good supply of masking tape before you start, and cut the tip off the caulking gun with care to ensure the angle and width are correct.

I hope this helps, it can get a bit messy.....
