Finally launched yesterday (weds 26th). I'm on a swinging mooring on the Blackwater and went out in the morning and fitted my mooring strops. No sooner had I got ashore than a Beneateau approached my mooring under sail and after running it down finally made secure. They stayed for a while until a friend went over and told them the owner was launching and would require his mooring shortly.
When I went to pick up the 'pick-up' dan bouy I found the top with flag had been broken off. It was there in the morning when I fitted it so there can only be one conclusion. So to whoever fancied practicing their sailing onto a mooring skills, 'THANKS', and perhaps in future you'd kindly bu**er off and practice else where! Grr, rant rant!

A Sailing School perhaps , did the friend not catch the name of the boat concerned ?

Pretty sure it wasn't a school boat. Looked like a husband/wife team. Came from upstream and departed in the same direction so could have been from Mayland marina or Heybridge I guess.

It's not the actual damage caused, that's fairly minor. It's the principle that matters.

A bit unfortunate, but these things happen, boat bits do get broken sometimes.
And what could they have done anyway? They are hardly likely to carry spare pick up bouy flags.
Your agent told them they were unwelcome and they left.
Hardly worth going to war over?

So you think it's perfectly acceptable to cause damage, however insignificant, to other people's property and not take responsibility for your actions. Remind me to give you a very wide berth!
