Coastguards yesterday discribed a incident on the River Teign as one of the most bizarre that they have ever dealt with.

Apparently four very large candles of 4 inches in diameter had being placed in a metal container,
and set afloat in the river and had come to rest against a inflatable dingy tied to small yacht with
two people asleep on board.

Consequently the tender caught on fire and was about to ignite the yacht as well, this was spotted by a member of a local boatwatch scheme who
raised the alarm at 2.30 in the morning, coastguards arriving on the scene tried to wake the couple by shouting but had to resort to the firing off of a maroon to rouse them.

Who then managed to put the fire out with buckets, Lucky people or what!.......

Almost a viking funeral! But candles in a container, weird type of fireship that one!!

Viking funeral, but are those about to be cremated meant to be dead?

Suppose those responsible would have being charged with manslaughter if there had being a fatality.
If they were ever caught that is !

peculiar

Being a Cornishmen myself I'd have to agree.
But then we think most of the country is peculiar compared to us normal people down here!...

Dead? A mere formality, half the population are dead from the shoulders up anyway and if it took a bloody maroon to wake them, they were probably clinically dead anyway!

HA HA
Well it proves one thing " Those maroons are enough to wake the dead "
