sorry, this isn't a boaty question, but I'm pretty sure somewhere here can answer this question.

I've bought a packet of "Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape" to effect a repair at home. A previous repair has included the application of silicone sealant.

A warning on the packet of Flashband says "Flashband is bituminous and must not come into contact with silicone sealant".

Does anyone know why?

All I can find on the internet is that the sealant can cause staining.

I suspect this refers to new sealant as it will react and possible form beads.

A bit the reaction you get if you try to apply fibreglass over bitumen.

A small test section should suffice.

Good luck. :)
