When I were a-learning on proper yachts, I was told that the mooring points in docks were elm tree butts, as they didn't rot in the marine environment.
Butts = bitts ?
Up on the Moor, us calls a tree stump a "moot". Thass the diffrence 'tween a plosive labial, and an aspirated labial, innit ?
