Bit quiet?

I'm planning to visit the South West Sports Boat Rally in Brixham at the end of May. 90 mile trip from Hamble in a 7 metre sports boat..... Will be fitting Aux outboard for the trip across Lyme Bay and avoiding portland race by going offshore. Should take around 5 hrs at 20 knots and burn around 150 litres. Will be left with calculated reserve of 50 litres plus around 50 in cans onboard.

Also fitting a Chinese heater to extend my winter cruising (actually commence it!). Fitting a co-pilots seat, new hob and general maintenance and repairs. So I'm not quiet at the moment.

Sorting out under reading volt gauges, turbo off having a rebuild, new vhf aerial fitting.

Summer plan is west cost of Scotland for a week......which will probably end up being Belfast......and Guinness:)

Well I'm doing a house upgrade by moving, or at least trying to if the bottom end of the chain ever gets sorted. I've been boatless since early December and am wondering just what to go for next, but it'll have to be post house move. There's a distinct possibility this coming summer will be my first with no boat since 2003! Odds on then it'll be flat calm and scorching Jun->Aug.

Then I keep wondering about wondering about buying somewhere on the Med near a marina....

Where is everyone? Surely there's a few winter upgrades in progress? Or people planning some interesting cruises for the summer?

We’re here!

How’s the weather there?

And yes, planning to upgrade my sun protection to factor 30 :)

Pete,

v.stupid idea to start a thread like that in mid January... The swimming and snowboarding posers are surfacing :p

was thinking of actually updating the main rebuilt thread which is left somewhere in the summer...
various other smallish projects going on when work is not interfering but I'm mainly working on a cunning secret sleep surplus project at the moment
Not doing bad even got a smartband so that I can measure my sleep pattern and have the thing suggest wakeup times :D (anytime between 7 and 8)

cheers

yeah yeah, rub it in Porto :p

tell me, aren't you bored snowboarding everyday? Do you actually drive to the piste, or you just slide from home straight in (that'd be cool)
scared to go skiing this year (may do) as my back's still aching, but it's less than an hour drive to the ski slopes from home...

cheers

V.

Every day is different snow conditions wise and bit like golf clubs ( a bag full ) there’s different skis slightly for different conditions. The knacks picking the one set for the day .
Only board after a big day dump - fresh mostly off piste .
Some Nordic x country as well if it’s the week end - crowds relatively speaking arrive .
Some snow shoeing in the back country.
So it never gets boring.

Tend to treat myself to new pair / year - all different like golf clubs .

Just “ slide in / out “ but if we need anything from the shops then sometimes get the car out and rtn back with shopping .You need a 4 WD for year round access .

Friend bought a wrecked Sealine 305 Statesman as a project (bought blind). Been at it pretty much 10 hours per day for the past 2 weeks.

Engines OK, everything else needs doing!

So far:
Completely de-grease / clean / dry bilges
Outdrive Trim Pumps - Got them Working
Trim Tabs - Got them working
Port Trim up - Replaced signal (trim button) cable
Re-wired from batteries - isolator - bus-bars
New bilge pumps with all new wiring
Trace various wiring issues
Removed seacocks
Removed rotten engine bay covers
Removed all old nav gear
Removed all sh1te / redundant wiring
Cut out section on top of diesel tanks to clean out the gunk (took about 2kg of sludge / diesel bug out of each tank)

Still to do:
Stop leaks from the flybridge
Remove calorifier (may have to cut some seating out)
Sort out out-drives (Hopefully just prop shaft seals / water pickup connection / few other nigglies)
Compound / Polish

I'm most likely missing loads of stuff, that's all I can think of off hand.
