Bit of a bargain ?

Which one can offset against the £ 4 Miilion pound + saving from a new buy .
Zero depreciation I would have thought ?
There's no market for them basically -hence the give away price

Indeed, because the people who can afford the running costs buy something newer/nicer.

Said like me who could scrape together the cash could never run it.

Yearly costs amounting to what? 75% of the boat value?

wow! Good spot Portofino. These things have as you know been languishing around £/€ 0.5mill reflecting complete lack of demand but this one is by far the cheapest I've seen. 20 years old, mark 1, plenty of bills to pay, but still it feels cheap. For the right sort of buyer it does seem quite a bargain.

The forum could just buy it for parties? It is photographed in Fontveille, Monaco, so its in just the right place already!

Are you saying that just for the high rock behind the boat, or did you spot any other detail?
That does look like Fontveille, but I wouldn't bet it really is. And the ad says she's in IT...
...I'm almost tempted to give the broker a call tomorrow! :)

The rock, the breakwater quai in 6th picture, the two joined apartment buildings at very top right of pic 1 and the white flower boxes on the quai, all confirm fontvieille. Cannot be 100% sure I suppose but I am 100% in this case :D

The advert is odd. If you go into the specs tab the boat is, they say, called WYP and Portugal flagged. Yet the Portugal flagged mangusta 80 WYP is a different Mangusta 80...

Good luck. If you do a deal when you call the broker I'll take possession for you. I'm in and around MC all weekend for obvious reasons!

the exterior is not the same boat. I don't like brokers that put random pictures. the first one has the right info
How have you concluded not same boat? I mean, what is not the same as what? Both ads contain the Portuguese discrepancy and the yachtworld link in MapisM's post shows red ensign.

J, I think that WorstCase is referring to the link in his post #9, where in fact there are some pics of a different boat, and btw in a different location.
Among others, this clearly shows the (correct, I suppose) name/flag:

Ah ok thanks. But actually I'm not sure they're different boats MapisM. Look carefully:

both are the early mark 1 obviously
Passrelle stbd side - unusual but not unknown on Man80. Overmarine will do it either side but the standard/default is port side
Just fwd of the aft-most passerelle stanchion, a broken grating stbd side then a bigger one port side - pretty big Sherlock Holmes clue
Aftermarket non slip strips on the pods with radiused ends and arranged the same
Identical asymmetric domes, and same radar and other clobber apart from the r/reflector on sha mari

I suspect they are the same boat but a long time between the pictures. At some point between the pictures there was a flag and name change plus addition/removal of orange life rings and a r/reflector

The pic above -another Sherlock view -it's Italien coded for charter .Well was then .
Give away is the mounted orange rings and the radar reflector and the after mkt none slip stickers .
My boat came with these and much more, like ErIB ,hand held compass , all sorts of old fashioned Nav gear .
Most like the radar reflector was still in a box ( no where :oto mount it ) - but still ticked a box I guess .
There were none slip strips on steps / area perceived as passenger hazard - too .
For those not familiar with the Med -mooring ? Where would you put it
I guess some one ( glass 1/2 full ) could buy -it - rent moorings for 18-24 months sell and have £100 K,s worth of fun that inc fuel to bomb arround to the main islands and maybe wind up in the eastern Med or N Africa - hmmm may be stick to eastern Med ?-you would get a nice tan .:cool:And have not shortage of crew/ freinds either .

Or trundle up to Libs / SIbs and hand over £1m for a well speced 60 ftr -bomb around the Solent and sell in 18-24 months
Retaining (glass1/2full) £500K

Yes jumped to a conclusion. It is likely the same but picture have a change of flag in between. Probably not in the location pictured.

Yeah, forgot to mention.
When I rang the broker, he told me that at the asking price he could throw in also the Versilcraft on stbd side in the above pic, to facilitate a quick sale.
So, I thought it was a good combo - the Falcon to live aboard and the 'Gusta for the odd day trip.
Now, is anyone interested in a wooden trawler?:D
