I see that a sailing version of this has been introduced recently.

Anyone tried it yet? Has compass, tide and baro / temp plus countdown features

I use a casio seapathfinder when I'm on the boat and quite like the tide and baro features but less keen on the big plastic look and digital (vs analogue) display for time.

I've just noticed this and am also interested. Did you buy one mjf?

Yes Magnum I did.

Its the best watch I have very had for timekeeping - second perfect.

Easy to set up and switch tide HW/LW destinations the watch shows the state of tide and times of HW/LW at set location.

The baro similarly - set it and bingo. Trend and current pressure.

compass good.

I like it very much - in fact since purchased my others have stayed in the winding box etc and old casio resigned to boat wash only duty..

This is encouraging. What colour did you go for? What is the finish of the bezel? A bit concerned about durability now I'm going to become a raggie :D

Finally, are any of the buttons or touch face so sensitive that they get accidentally pressed during normal use?

Cheers :)

No - its a robust bit of kit chucky like the casio but in metal.

The touch face only works after hitting the big centre button and cancels out after 30 secs or so.

its as robust as say a rolex submariner and has a good waterproof cert something that other Tissots do not have other than the similar divers watches have..

I assume you have looked at the web site which shows all the models and colours and a pdf instruction manual.

I special ordered mine at the end of the summer - white with light blue bezel - SWMBO thought it was poofy :-) I do not........

You might be interested to have a look at the review below.
The "unidirectional bezel" shown at 1:25 is indeed weird, 'fiuaskme.
I'd rather rely on something else when scuba diving... :)

I guess the bits inside are the same - what's clever in the sailing version is the fact that one system revolves around the 24hr clock and another (used for tides) uses the lunar day.

The pressure monitor will be the same I'm sure - the stopwatch function has a clever mode wherein you can enter distance and a another press provides average speed.

Its a good boat watch (he says wearing it at my desk......)

Why did they drop titanium for the sailing version I wonder?

My brother has a very early version of the Touch, which is a nice thing, but heavy. A titanium version is an option for some models, but the sailing one is steel (clunky = bad), yet they give it compass & tides (boat related = good).

As a matter of interest, and as someone who would be interested if it wasn't heavy, do you actually use the watch functions in anger?

If yes, do you also have an iPhone with the Boatie & Navionics apps and why use the watch instead?

You're missing the point, Bart.
The guy in the video calls the bezel "unidirectional" but it isn't, since (as he shows!) it can be moved in both directions.
Which actually makes sense looking at its marks, because it's made for the compass and not for the diving/deco time - as it should be with unidirectional bezels.
Not that anyone these days would use bezels to calculate RBT or deco time, of course!

PS: anyhow nope, I very rarely used the compass while diving, aside from courses or just curiosity.
Not even for night dives: much easier to look at the strobe light under the boat...:D

Yes I do - and I have the iphone app with charts and a tide app too. Fact is I always have a watch on and not always carry the phone........

One press of a button and a touch of the screen and you have the tide status and next HW time.

I really like this feature. Exactly how much tidal data is displayed? Height of tide at present time? Or is is just time of HT/LT?
That's why I got it really - its easy to set.

Just enter next HW at your chosen location and thats it.

The data showed is tide status ie rise / fall and duration to next event thats the two hands and a digital time in the window of next HW time. another screen 'touch' changes this to next LW time. Easy to adjust too if the prediction does not correspond to actual.
