Trevor Gilks, 85, died four days after breaking his neck in the fall on Saga Cruises’ Spirit of Discovery ship.
More than 100 people were injured when the ship was battered by force 11 winds in the Bay of Biscay off western France and northern Spain on November 4, 2023.

That has all the hallmarks of my F11 lunch....

We used to cross by ferry in the distant past. It always seemed the restaurant had a sense of humour as the soup was always thinner when the weather was rough so you had to continually tilt your bowl from side to side to compensate for the roll.
My sister in law just booked a Biscay Cruise for March next year. Good luck to that!

He enjoyed breaking his neck??

No, I'm sure he didn't if he was aware of it. I think it is fairly safe to assume, though, that he enjoyed travelling on cruise ships, and it was that that I was referring to.

It is often said of people who die doing hazardous sports - mountaineering, motorcycle racing, (dare I say ocean sailing?), etc. - that they died doing something they enjoyed. I see no reason to not apply the same consideration to someone enjoying some less risky indulgence. It seems to me a far preferable occasion to go than, say, while queueing to pay a parking fine.
