Every time I go aboard my first job is to clear the bird sh1t from my decks. Are there any [practical] bird scarers that work?

Ive seen the various garden owls and of course the recycled CDs.......... Do these work?

Or are there any other ideas that have succeeded?

Thanks Nick.

Thats it. Stick cd disks all over the boat. Mind you, when the sea gulls see them and sh1t themselves with fright!! Redesign the boat with them anyway. Save buying a new one.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Yeah but it does depend on what CD's though. My mate tells me that Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue keep them off but put Cliff Richard up there and it is covered.

Allegedly.

Or, if you value your CD collection too highly, you could try a line threaded with loads of bits of tin foil, hoisted to the masthead from the deck/boom.

Or, get your decks coated with Teflon so it all washes off easier?

I prefer your suggestion from a few months ago HLB, it went along the lines of go and find their nest and s#1t in it, see how they like it <g>.

It tickled me at the time anyhow

Shotgun OK but plays hell with the masthead tricolour and wind instruments.

We use loads of CDs on a peice of cord around the boat (backstay/shrouds/forestay ) which works a treat but only when the wind is blowing. alternatively strips of cloth or canvas.
