The Birchwood Users Club used to be run by John and Juliette,
I have been trying to contact them by email and telephone
with no avail, does anybody know what has happened to them, or has anybody any knowledge of what has happened to the Birchwood users club ?

Hi

No not sure. I found the same when I tried to contact them.

If you search my posts you will see I have tried a couple of times to generate some interest and get some info but it seems the Birchwood owners (well of the older Birchwoods) are a shy and retiring bunch. But you will see a few did surface an admit it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I would love to get an owners club started but time as with everyone is limited but would happily get involved and contribute if one was started or revamped

Thanks for your help, somewhere I do have a couple of newsletters , god knows where they are, I will try and find them and see if any membeers telephone numbers are shown and get back to you

Cheers

David

We're not all shy and retiring , it's more likely a case of missing the post . By the time I get to lok in mobo , so many other posts knock the Birchy ones right down the list
But there are others out there

Hello - I know you are not shy and retiring because you surfaced for my other posts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. When you look at the freeman user club and from what I understand the engines and drives are similar they shame us Birchy owners. I have even, sadly, taken to writing down the boat names of any Birchwood 25 or older Birchwood I see on the Thames in the vain hope of one day seeing a real Birchwood owners group and forcing lol I mean encouraging them to join.

I think one of the problems is that older Birchwoods are thought , by some , to be old fashioned and not many know how nice they really are . I've yet to try mine out in heavy weather on the open sea , but it seems to me that most Birchy owners have moved to the rivers , leaving the sea to newer boats , yet a Birchy seems solid enough to take to the open waters well .
The idea of an owners club is a good one , but it would have to attract the ditch sluggers too , and this forum seems to be for the sea going more than the river cruiser

Good news guys I have an email address and John has replied
the email address is jptcc@aol.com, before he can send out the next newsletter, he needs information to put intop the newsletter, so please send hiom as much information as you can, attached is his email.

Cheers David

I have been working on issue 7 of Birchwood Classics for some time.
The idea for this newsletter was that it would provide an interchange of information for owners of 'Classic' Birchwoods. That is, those built in the 70's and early 80's.
Unfortunately I have had no responses to my ongoing request for information on their Birchwoods.
If they had we would have had another newsletter some time ago !!

However, the issue in production is meant to cover the full range of the 'Classic' Birchwoods - almost as a catalogue - but it will not be ready until I have the time to gain further information.
With regard to Birchwood 29's - introduced by the Birchwood Boat Co in 1976 and in production until 1983 - the few owners registered have not provided any information on their boats so cannot share further details with you at this time.
To complete issue 7 - and for ongoing use in other issues - I plan to visit owners, obtaining info and taking pics. This will take time but will provide a source of info - and keep details up to date - for some years.

Sorry I cannot be more positive with info on 29's. If you want updates please let me know.

Regards.
